Sleep suppliments

Is there any sleep suppliments for those with liver disease? Is melatonin safe on occasional basis?

Oy I used to have weird dreams and a sleep hang over when I took the regular pill form of Melatonin. Oddly I have great results with the sublingual (under the tongue) pill. They come in 1 mg doses and are relatively fast acting.

I remember a time when Melatonin held much more promise than it seems to have ended up with when it comes to liver health. These are older links but:

I also take melatonin, in very tiny doses, and it usually works quite well with no after effects for me. My hepatologist approves of me using it, even with cirrhosis and even while on tx.

I have taken melatonin. It does help me sleep, but am groggy the next morning. I quit taking it when I have to work, so only on weekends when I think I will need it. I also drink chamomile tea and/or warm milk. Works as well, but not as good as melatonin.

Melatonin isn't harmful to a person with mild liver damage, just don't take valerian root it's very hard on the liver.
