Has anyone tried Non-Interferon Treatment?

Non-interferon treatment is in final stages of FDA consideration for approval.  I am approved for the phase III clinical trial.  Just wanted to know has anyone else started or completed or considering this type of treatment?

Gen 1b's are clearing. They are just approving the drug for 2 and 3's first. If you can hold out, I would talk to your doctor about it. Here is some of what I took from my email today. http://www.natap.org/2013/EASL/EASL_02.htm

Yes I have read sofosburvir and am very impressed.  I was feeling bad that I was 1b for awhile and not in the great 2 and 3 club. lol.  But not anymore, my doctors are great and up-to-date.  My anti-viral will be faldaprevir which has also charted great success with my genotype.  I am going forward, because I was going for triple drug therapy anyway, but I am able to try this first.  If it doesn't work I will be "rescued" by triple therapy anyway. Check in at times to relate progress good or poor. :)

Check out the trials for STUDIES  OF  GILEAD’S  SOFOSBUVIR . Gen 1 2 and 3 are clearing on one pill, no side effects. Try to find the trials and read, it's very exciting what's coming soon.

I agree that it is always a good ideal to do some research before posting incorrect info......... That was my reason for posting.

"Non interferon treatment has been submitted to the FDA for genotype 2 and 3 but not for genotype 1.............."

Good luck, welcome to the forum

So far as I know, Boehringer Ingelheim, has not applied for FDA approval for Faldaprevir.  It's my understanding of last week's presentations at EASL that Boehringer Ingelheim reported that their Phase 3 trial results indicated 79% and 80% SVR12 rate with Faldaprevir combined with both Interferon and Ribavirin.  This phase 3 trial was a double blind, placebo controlled phase 3 trial.  So far ask I know, these results were reported with regard to treatment naive G1s.  BI also did trials with patients with advanced liver disease, but the SVR rate was lower.  Although these results are encouraging, it is important to note that the higher SVR rate was with treatment naives and included Interferon and Ribavirin, and to my understanding BI has not yet submitted an application for FDA approval.  These drugs are still in trials, I believe.  Please send a link if you are aware of information other than this.

I suggest you read the stats for the latest clinical studies.  Impressive for the fact that genotype 1 in treatment-naive patients shows 73-80% success rate in 100% cute with shorter treatment time of 24 weeks and many less side effects that are caused by interferon.  Google non-interferon treatment 2013 and specifically Faldaprevir.  Good luck in keeping an open mind and being mindful of current research updates.
