I echo what the others wrote. Often at just about this time the treatment hits you like a ton of bricks. Also, much of the time the side effects get better. But this awful phase could last a month, which will seem like a lifetime.

The advice the others gave is good. Try to drink liquids and throw nutrition out the window. Eat any damn thing that tastes palatable.

Good luck. This is very shocking, isn't it? For myself, I was flat on my back at week 12 and lost 10 lbs in two weeks. I looked like I had aged ten years. I'm now in week 40 and I go to the gym every day and have restored my lost muscle tone. Be patient. It's hell but hopefully it will pass.

One thing about going thru tx is sometimes it's fairly awful.  Not all the time, you certainly have to do your part to even things out and to try to minimize the side effects.  Number one thing is to drink plenty of water and eat, buy some popsicles and fruit.  Heck have him try some Chinese soup, menudo or some chicken soup.  I think it would lead to worse sx's if a person doesn't eat.  He could be becoming anemic.  One thing for certain is you have to force youself to drink lots of water and eat, even if you can only eat fruit at least your eating something.  If you're going thru tx you have to eat, it just makes sense to me that you have to give up some kind of a fight.  One last thing, that is too much sleep, maybe he needs an anti-depressant, he should see his doctor asap.    good luck, I hope things get better for both of you

The treatment is like a rollercoaster, some weeks good some weeks bad. I had a really rough spell around the same week as your husband. My nursealso confirmed, that quite a few treaters go through a rough spell around that time. It does get better.
Make sure he's drinking lots of fluids. My nurse suggested 1 tylenol and 1 ibuprofen. As far as eating, what about broths, or liquid nutritional supplement. It does get better.
