update:

i must have been searching my network the wrong way, i have appts. with the following doctors:

Dr. Paul Pockros - Scripps Clinic - 100 miles away
Dr. Sammy Saab - UCLA - Pfleger Liver Institure - local 40 miles away
Dr. Fred Poordad - Cedars-Sinai - local 30 miles away

Dr. Pockros recommended Dr. Saab, but I'm sure Dr. Poordad is more than capable. Going to make decision after seeing all 3.

peace

If you're okay going to San Diego, I highly recommend Dr Paul Pockros. One of the best. He's at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla. Leads multiple Clinical Trials.

Hi, UCLA, Cedars-Sinai and USC are all top notch places.  You can go to their websites and see who the hepatology folks are that are listed in their Gastroenteroloy depts.  Don't know anything about the OC unfortunately.  I don't know about your insurance network but sometimes you can go out of network if you need a specialist.  Might be worth talking to the insurance folks to see if that is an option.

Best of luck - the goal is to find a knowledgeable Hep C doctor.

Otherwise, you're gonna have to see who IS on your plan, and then google them to see if you find out anything more about them.  Best of luck to you on your search.

UCLA docs are typically top notch.  Google "UCLA Physicians". Try the Pfleger Liver Institute, if that is close to you.  You might want to seek a gastro with knowledge of Hep C, if there isn't a big choice in Hepatologists.  Best to you!
