stress levels and svr

i'm finally embarking on my last couple of weeks.  it's been hell but i've kept working.  my understanding is that
if the virus comes back it does so in the first six weeks after treatment.  i'm really worn out and can't really
afford it but i was thinking that maybe if i quit work i would bring the stress way down and help my chances
for svr.  any thoughts?

IF it really came down to something like the stress of waiting for our PCRs to come back post treatment for us to lose SVR I'm afraid none of us would have made it, I'm SURE I would not have. I tested negative then a false positive that almost made me mental and then und for the rest of my tests........that false positive came and would have stayed if stress had anything to do with it.

You either have the virus or you don't.  You can't stress yourself into getting it to come back any more than you could have stressed yourself enough to get it in the first place.

That's my opinion anyway.

Thanks everybody.  I'm good to finish this miserable treatment and would go to the extent of bedrest if it would influence the actual outcome.  silly me to think i could control the outcome.  i can't even control my attitude these days.  i may postpone the pcr test until i've got my sea legs back.

Being without a job and without insurance would be stressful for me.  I don't know about you, but being close to the end of tx is stressful for me!  I'm afraid to stop, is what it boils down to.  I don't want to think of What if it doesn't work?
Maybe you are feeling a bit of that?
Good Luck on your last two weeks of tx.

Ok, have some friends here who want to help you along in these last 2 weeks of tx. Remember the little engine that could, well we have a long line of cars behind the little engine that could and they have one heck of a good time on the Orange Blossom Special to bring their baby back to SVR but it is still just a little longer, so put your foot down and get with it, get up in the morning and go for it. Lol

Wellp, thats about all I can here, hope you continue the ride.

My guess is in a sense you're already SVR by now or you're not. The test down the road will just let you know. That said, on a personal level I was pretty careful about what I did right after treatment, for all the reasons you're thinking :) And who knows. Still, I think quitting your job would be a bit drastic unless you feel you want to do it anyway. Maybe just take some time off from work instead.

I think at this point, at 46 weeks, less stress is not going to have any impact on your SVR at all.   So if you're thinking you'd be the cause the virus coming back if you DON'T take off the last two weeks, I'd put that thought out of your head.  Just keep taking your drugs for that last two weeks and hang in there!!!!   BIG congrats on making it this far.  I hope your recovery is swift and that you feel tons better soon and I'm sure your writing will improve when you're feeling better and LESS stress!

Good luck and cheering you on to SVR!

Are kidding me! 46 weeks and running and now you want to decide if you should stop working or not, am I read this right? Well, I thing you’re a little late for the party sister and No body but I mean no body quits work at this stage of the game. You’ve mustered the stamina, endurance, inner strength and the pain to get to this point in treatment and you will damn well finish it out and work these last two weeks even if it kills you, got it!

Stress! What in the heck do you mean STRESS! You, look back over the last 46 weeks, now that is stress I’m here to tell yaw, you met the challenge and beat the odds so far and this close to the finish line the bookies are betting that you will drop in the home stretch. You can do it, make it a gold metal, and push a little harder, I know you can, and so does everyone here, were rooting for you, take you best shot and go for it. Beside it is out of your hands now, you’ve done all you could and it is time to start making the party hats, a little congrats at this point and we’ll see at the end.

Hope the writing comes back and I'm sure it will, if you feel rusty then write about your treatment?

thanks for your reply.  i was relieved to hear your thoughts.  i'm on my second
job since starting treatment and not getting good feedback.  i'm a technical
writer.  the one thing i could always count on was my writing but it seems it's
gone to pot this last year.  weird thing is it seems fine to me.  here's hoping the
writing comes back soon and the virus does not.

My thoughts are either you will reach SVR or you won't.  You are in the last two weeks of tx and that has been pretty much pre-determined already.  After you stop tx, your energy levels should start to come back up and hopefully you will feel better as time goes on.
Stress does play and role in side effects, but I don't know of any clinical research that shows elimination of stressful situations ensures SVR.  You could go on total bed rest and that still doesn't guarantee you will SVR.
If you need to stop working, do so because of the benefit rest will give your body.  I don't think it's a determining factor in eradicating the virus.  The only thing that comes to mind is if your job is extremely physical, it may take you longer to rebound from the sx.  I'm sure others will add to this.  Good Luck and hoping for your SVR!!!
