hiv and hepatitis .com ddw 2009 interferon therapy reduces or reverses fibrosis over the long term
results patients who achieve svr continued to have undetectable hcv rna  throughout the 5 year follow up period
after 5 years inflamation and fibrosis scores incceased significantly in untreated group by 2.1 1.1 respectivleyand the treated group without svr by 1.6 and .o5
more patients with no fibrosis at baseline and no treatment experienced liver disease progression 28% verse 11%
liver histology improved significantly in treated  patients  who achieved svr        
after 5 years all treated svr patients with portal fibrosis and 80% with bridging fibrosis at baseline had no fibrosis
20% of svr experiienced resolution of cirrhosis

That's really good news, I went from stage 2 inflammation after 22 years of disease to stage 2 peri-portal fibrosis at 28 years of disease (6 years, I don't know if that's quick or not) I was told not to treat 6 years ago because it was my second biopsy over a five year period that hadn't changed. They assumed it wouldn't get worse. Going to the doc to talk about treatment soon

I'm with you on this.  I was in denial and didn't take Tx when first advised to and even kept drinking beer -Now SVR but w bridging Fibrosis-Cirrhosis F3-F4.  Should have Txd sooner I'm guessing-duh!

I've always agreed with this logic but then I'm pretty pro-tx as everybody knows. I figure why wait till it's to late if you can stop it in your tracks before it does much damage.
