what is this rash

Hello
I have had Hep C for 45 years now and have been doing well. A few months ago I started getting soar muscles and my joints would ache awful at night. My work is twelve hours min. and on my feet all the time being fairly physical the whole time. Some nights I could barely make it up to our front door after work from joint pain and fatigue. This comes and goes but it is coming more often now, our Doc says it's old age and is unsure of what is causing this rash and swollen ankles (see photo). Could this be related to the Hep C and if so what is it and what should we do?

thanks for any help
Harry

Hi I hope I am not too late for this post.  I had a very similar rash and it took 3 years and 5 doctors before I was diagnosed with Cyroglobulinema.  I thought I would mention in case you were still have the rash and did not know what it was.  It can get very painful.  I see that you are SVR so perhaps the rash is gone as I have been told that if I get rid of the Hep C I could get rid of the cyro's
Congratulations on the SVR, I am happy for you, also thanks for the information on the lipomas

Have you been tested for cryoglobulinemia?

Shot in the dark here Harry, but have they ever tested you for Lyme Disease?  I have no medical degree of course but a friend exhibited the same symptoms you are and was finally diagnosed with Disseminated Lyme Disease.  Even thought it's December and no more ticks, it takes months for symptoms to manifest.  Just a thought.  Good Luck, hope your doc can get you some relief.
Happy Holidays,
Trinity

It is hard to see the rash in the pic but the swollen ankles would concern me the most. this can be one of the first signs of a failing liver. do you have cirrhosis? of course it can be from other things not as serious as well. Best of luck and happy holidays
