As I stated in my first response, only about 20% of those with oral HSV-1 actually develop cold sores; the rest are asymptomatic, but still contagious.
just because you've never had a cold sore, doesn't mean thatyou don't also have hsv1.
have you and your partner both had type specific herpes igg blood testing to know your full statuses?
grace
I have HSV 2.
I've never had a cold sore in my life (before or after getting herpes).
Thank you for your response.
Do you have HSV-1 or HSV-2?
It is possible that you could have HSV-1 orally and you should get that checked before giving him oral because HSV-1 can be spread to genitals. Only a bit over 20% of those with oral HSV-1 experience symptoms or cold sores, but even those who don't have symptoms, they can still spread it their oral infection to a partners genitals via oral sex.
However, if your partner has HSV-1 orally already and you have it orally as well, then he is immune from catching it in another location. Bests.
