Herpes Symptoms?

I had unprotected oral sex with a girl last week. Two days later I had throat inflammation. We went to the clinic together and discovered that she has genital herpes. Does that mean that I have automatically contracted the virus? A fever accompanies the inflamed throat and anal irritation. She was given prescribed medication while I just got sent home with 4 pills and shot for treatment of gonorrhea or chlamydia (just in case). There are no sores on my face yet and no burning urination, but there's no way I could have escaped that right?

Why would the virus be hard to detect via blood test if you're currently experiencing symptoms?

Yea that's what I was asking. I probably did test too early. How long should I wait before I retest?

if your hsv2 igg is 1 then yes it's negative unless you tested too early ( or am I misunderstanding what you are asking? )
