sorry for the long post :(

Hi Grace,

Sorry for the long post.  The last time I was intimate with my ex was Jan 13.  We broke up a few days after and I wanted to wait three months and then have a full testing panel done, I pretty much wanted to make sure that I was ending the relationship the way I started ....clean and std free.  We've been together since Feb 2006 and I have never had any problems or anything.  I am freaked out by the thought of herpes and around April 2007 I decided to have the blood antigen test done and came up negative for both.

Fast forward to yesterday.... I was in the shower and felt a mild tingle on the upper back part of my thigh.  It didn't really hurt but felt kinda of what you would feel if you had a cut and water hit it.  I got a mirror and sat in the natural light in front of my window  and noticed a like an abrasion .  Its not on the vagina area ....but about a inch or two past where your bathing suit would end...on the upper back part of the leg.  I FREAKED OUT and ran to the free STD clinic in my city.  The NP looks at the mark and says it looks like an abraision....and said she was positive it wasn't herpes.  For some reason (don't really know why I'm obessing) I didn;t believe her.  She said herpes would hurt...and I told her about the stinging right when the water hit it.  Although, after the first second or two, I didn;t feel any pain.  Even when I put soap on it.  She wouldn't swab the abrasion so I decided to go to Planned Parenthood (where they would do anything for a fee :)     However, this morning, the cuts were pretty much healed and scabbed over.  My questions are..

1.  Does this sound like herpes to you
2.  Is herpes always painful when you touch the cuts.
3.  Part of my thinks that I did this myself....I've was working out on some eplictical machines the day before...and like a idoit wore boyshorts underneath leggings....I've kept getting wedgies and trying to discreetly yank them out...without anyone behind  me seeing it.  The abraisons are in a place that would happen if I did kinda of yank back on the panties to dislodge them.
4.  Nothing was swollen and the NP said herpes is clustered...not so much in a sort of straight line and the skin around would be red.  DO you agree with that. The pics on the  net showed so much variation.
5.  this is like day 43 since we last had sex...shouldn't something had showed up by now?
6.  IT DOESN"T HURT>.....but some posts said there is no pain

So monday, I am having the test done....I figured that the last time we had sex....is really no diffrent from any other time...so if i was infected....43 days is not different from 83 days.....102 days etc.  He is a great guy and I do trust that he was faithful...and like I said, I never had even as much as a yeast infection...although I did recently get BV but I think thta was from was myself with my Bath and Bodyworks stuff instead of Dove unscented.  How accurate is the blood antigen test....You just seem so expert....I value your insight.  I feel so crazy...  :(

I think you are confusing the accuracy of the blood tests with the accuracy of the lesion cultures.  It all runs together when you've been reading tons on herpes I know!

You have no reason to doubt your blood test results.  Convincing yourself of that is sometimes easier said than done though I know.

I had my results and they were negative for both type 1 and type 2.  The test was done at Planned Parenthood.   I don't know why I'm still obessing, but how accurate is the test.  I remember reading a post on here where someone said it was only 70 percent accuate. I have never had a a symtom...but am considering retesting just to be sure.  What is the phenomal about people that don't produce antibodies that would be dectected...and how common is it?  Obviously....still looking for work, so I have a little free time to let my mind overanalyze.

Forgot to post on my older thread.......I know it was a Igg test that picked up both antibodies.  I'm not completley sure which one, but I want to say herpes select

Thanks, thats a great idea.  I think I might see if the YMCA needs science tutors. Anything is better then being obessive :)

If this was herpes, it wouldn't have disappeared in a day, it would have probably burned like crazy to put alcohol on it, and there would be some redness.

I think you should volunteer at a homeless shelter, animal shelter, something, anything, to occupy your time lol.  I was out of work for awhile, and I know how crazy it can make you to sit idle.

I have no clue.  I have never had issues like this, my friend thinks my mind needs to be occupied with something since I was laid off two months ago.  I'm a scientist by profession so I always over analyze everything.   I know feel pretty confident that it was just a "rub burn" and the women in the clinic was pretty young.  But working there, she has proably seen way more then I can imagine.  I think I was just looking for a second opinion on what was already kind of clear.  Just to humor me, if it really was herpes....putting alcohol on the area would burn if I only noticed it the day before....and the area would be red too right?  I proably would feel better if it was in an easier to see area.  I am still getting my blood test wed just to make sure..  It will be 7 weeks since the last time....wow, my friend is right....I have totally lost it ...lol...

You saw a medical professional who didn't think that this was herpes related.

Why the herpes obsession?

on sat, i cuold put alcohol on the area, no pain at all.  Thats good considering I only noticed it Friday around 11am.  Do herpes areas heal that quickly. This morning, only a little scab remains, no tenderness, no burning with alcohol.
