Adderall Side Effects?

Hello,
I am a 37 year old male and was diagnosed as having an add disorder over three years ago. One year ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition, cardiomyopathy, which was determined to be the most likely result of some sort of bacterial infection that I has in the past. For the last year or so, I have noticed that while I am on my adderall,  30mg tab po bid, I often can detect a strong amonia like odor if I sweat. If I take a hot shower while washing my hair I can sometimes smell it. I have also noticed that I have been having difficulty with bowel movements. In the past two weeks I have only had a very small movement every 4 days. I also have itching and burning on the outside area of my rectum. When I brush my teeth and use mouth wash, I have a terrible taste in my mouth and it is often dry most of the day. I am gay, but have not been very active sexually and have always practiced safe sex. I had an hiv test about 3 yrs ago and was negative. I have a poor diet, sometimes eating nothing for two days, and really do not drink water, just diet soda. I suspect Adderall could be causing the problems. Any ideas?

Hey Franky! So I've been taking Adderall for about a year now and have been noticing an increase in health concern symptoms that I haven't had before or that are increasing in frequency. Thanks to Google, I've been doing allot of research and I started seeing a common denominator with my recent symptoms since starting the medication: bacterial infections! So I started researching side effects to Adderall and after much digging around I finally came across a post in a woman's forum regarding a common STD which is a bacterial infection and the women were discussing Adderall. Sure enough, there were tons of ladies complaining that they have had an increase in all that is bacterial infections since taking the medicine. It seems to be linked, Bacterial Infections and Adderall. I plan on discussing this issue with my doctor on my next visit and I would strongly suggest you do too! Good luck my friend.

Common Adderall side effect indeed include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness,  dry mouth, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, restlessness, stomach pain or upset, trouble sleeping, weight loss, weakness and the unpleasant taste you mentioned.  You could discuss this with your attending physician for possible dose adjustment or shift to other medication.
