What is causing my prolonged cough?!

I have been suffering from a cough 2 weeks now and I cannot take it anymore! It started last week, I was ill with general aches and pains and feeling run down, but this went after two days and I was left with this cough. It started off as just a chesty cough, but now I am bringing up greeny/yellow mucus aswell. It is not too bad during the day, but at night it is horrific...I can hardly breathe and am so wheezy it is difficult to sleep. I went to the doctor 2 days ago and she listened to my chest and I did a peak flow test, but said that it was normal and she was therefore reluctant to put me on any antibiotics as it was probably a viral thing. She said that if it hadn't improved in a week to come back, but at this rate I don't think it will be. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what could be causing this? I also have a complete loss of appetite and my voice is going, but I assumed that is due to a build up of mucus? My lips are dry and I have a cold sore, but again I assumed this is due to the not breathing properly and getting a really dry throat? One other point to mention is that I had a blood test done a few months ago which came back as saying I had a low neutrophil count, I repeated the test and it had gone back to normal, but now I am paranoid that this cough is caused by something more sinister because of this previous result? Any help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks x

it sound like a viral pneumonia, don't worry the viruses that affect respiratory tract are so much and may be troublesome. the hoarsnress of your voice seem to be laryngopharyngitis and green mucus may indicate bronchiolitis, you have 7-15 days to completly recover, if not , check your doctor again
