can a doctor stop treatment when a patient is sedated and paralised by drugs

Hi, i was in hospital last october, with swineflu, my kidneys were failing i was on kidney filtration, my lungs were failing,,  a doctor told my family i might die at any moment, he informed my family that i would die if there was no improvment in the next few hours, he also warned my family that  resuscitation wouldnt work in these circumstances and would not be attemped on me, the doctor said that if i worsened i would have reached a point where further treatment would not save my life and he might consider stopping treatment, 4 days later i was transfered to another hospital by plane and went on ecmo for 36 days, im doing fine now what id like to know is what are the human rights act of 1998 end of life care could  they do this to me, i didnt die what if they had of taken down my treatment,

One possible way of keeping this type of situation from happening in the future is to get yourself a living will.  This document, a legal document, will state what your wishes are regarding "extreme measures" regarding taking any and all steps to atempt to save your life in the even that you are no able to communicate your wishes at that particular time.  I'm not exactly sure what the laws are regarding this, but I believe this document has to be notarized and then you can keep a copy with you, a copy in a safe place such as a safety deposit box and also make sure all your doctors have a copy.  Most hospitals nowadays ask if you have a living will whenever you are at the hospital.  It's also extremely important to let your family members know that you do have this document and where you keep it, so they can readily have access to it in the event that you are unable to.

I don't really understand where you're going with this question. What the doctor said he was gonna do never happened and he didn't end up having to make that decision so even if you do find out the answer of the "what if's" how will that benefit you? I don't know about the human rights act of 1998 end of life care but he didn't go against it because he didn't have to make that call.
