Read on the lable and if it says "wheat, barley, rye, flour, vinegar"  it has gluten in it.  It is also very common for people with Celiacs disease to also be lactose intollerant.  Cut out all dairy and wheat products and see what happens.  This will be a MAJOR life change for you.  Baiscally you will be limited to fresh fruit and vegetables, beef, pork, chicken and fish.  You can go to a health food store and purchase "gluten free" oatmeal, pancake mix and other items but they will cost you.  The gluten free pasta and bread is NASTY!  Dont wast your money on those items.

Items such as all bread, pasta, salad dressing, ketchup, milk, beer, cake, breakfast cereal, croutons, pop tarts and so on are no longer your friend.  I would also stay away from peanuts, pecans, walnuts and other nuts just in case.  It does not surprise me that your doctor never brought up Celiac as most doctors have never even heard of it.

Dont give up...I'm now at 1.5 months wtih this and still figuring out what I can eat.  Even the smallest amount of gluten can set you off.  Eating out is no longer an option for you unless you eat a grilled chicken salad and squeeze a lemon on top for taste.  You can do this.  Please keep me posted.  If I find a new recipie I will let you know.

I cant believe I just said I would "swap" a recipie....that will cost me 10 "man points."

First off you can eat rice, potatoes, chex cereal is made from rice as is rice crispies and there are others. Almost all salad dressings are in fact gluten free! Walnuts and pecans and other nuts are most likely safe unless it says on the package that it is prossessed in the same plant as when products...let's see, tonight I ate a salad, potatoes ( no gravy because that contains flour ) green beans, lima beans and ground beef, all gluten free. the only soy and terriaki sauce that is gluten free is the La Choy brand which taste the exact same, but you really have to watch what you get if you go to a Asian cuisine place because they usually don't use la Choy.
Mexicans figured it out I think because they usually eat corn tortillas and enchiladas! Just my opinion!

I have been Lactose intolorant my entire life and dealing with what I have always assumed was IBS for a VERY long time. In late 04 I went through a very stressful event in my life and my body went haywire. I lost 95 pounds in about 7 months time. IT took well over a year but I finally got a handle on it and have learned to get by with a very careful diet and have been able to maintain my weight. My gut is not normal by any means...but at least I can function most days.
Well...I have been putting off getting a colonoscopy for sometime now and finally gave in to my doc and went to the gastro. He ran further tests and guess what?? I have markers for Celiac! I had put Gluten Intolorance out of my head because the one and only thing I can eat without tummy upset is TRISKETS! GRRRR.....so now, next month, I not only get the "pleasure" of a colonoscopy...but a endoscopy as well to take a biopsy of my small intestine. Yay. not.
Lots of reasrch since hearing about my test results and now I am seeing where, yes...I prob DO have it...
My list of things I can safely eat is getting smaller all the time....depressing

Depending on how long it has gone untreated, it could take up to three months to fully see the results; although you should feel better and improve bowel movements within 1-3 weeks.

If Celiac is what you are dealing with you could see a change in 24 hours.  Even if you dont have the disease you will begin to feel better.  I firmly believe that we are the most unhealthy country in the world.  McDonalds, Arbys, KFC, Pizza Hut...all these types of foods are killing us.

Are bodies are not meant to digest, dairy, refined sugar and most products that are "white" in color.
