I can only imagine how bad it is for you and I feel very bad knowing you are going through this. My suggestion doesn't go to the heart of your question, but I do have a secret that helps a little with the pain and need for frequent urination during a UTI. To me, only having had a handful of UTIs, I found that Uristat, an over the counter medication makes a huge difference in alleviating the pain, burning and even frequency until the antibiotics can really start working. One warning, your urine will turn a dark to bright orange after taking the medication, but it really does help alleviate the symptoms in a matter of 15-20 minutes.
Sorry I couldn't offer anything else.
I just posted a Q. myself. I understand how you feel, I've had six UTI in the last eight months, not counting the three kidney infections one that ended up being the cousin to the Meras virus, I found out that it started as a blatter infection and ended up in my kidney, I went in to see my urologist for what I thought was just a really bad bladder infection and ended up in isolation for three days, thats where they found my kidney stones, and you can read the rest on my post..Do you have a good Urologist? have you discussed a long term antibiotic? some times if it keeps coming back that might be a option for you, or getting you urthra (spelling ) widened could also be an option. have you been scoped for interstitial cystitis ? all of these tests SUCK!! but they would rule out alot of questions for you.at least it is some where to start, I'm sure you know very well how to guard against an infection, so I won't go into those pointers, God knows you don't need a lecture!!! you need a friend !! so here's to our best friend Cipro!! and a full water bottle, I don't know about you but those pills that turn your pee red don't do a damn thing for me, how about you?! hang in there!!!
