Why am I having continued aching in left kidney?

I am a 58 year old women. It started about a month ago being wokin each night with an ache in my left kidney. It seemed ok through the day. After a few weeks, I started to just feel tired and not really well. I had no burning or could see no blood in my urine. Then last week one night not only did I have kidney pain, but I started having pain in the uretha area. Very sore to the touch. I called the doctor the next day. They did a urine test. Said there was no blood, but my white cells were very high. They called it a UTI. Now I have had many UTI's in my life, but it never felt like this at all. I just finished a week of Cipro. I feel better, but am still have that kidney ache or pain. Don't know what to do next. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
