Gitelman syndrome is the correct spelling
low potassium and magnesium cause abnormal ekg's.Going to a nephrologist is the right choice. Ask him about Gittelmen syndrome, my daughter has this.
I was tested for hyperaldosteronism and my levels were normal. I have been taking a magnesium suppliment for a few years so I am not sure. My mag levels are always boarderline normal. I dont use liqorice or diruetics. They were reimplanted near the bladder. I don't drink alcohol and I am not anorexic or bulemic. I have been asked that by the doctors because of my blood work. My tests were also normal for sed rates, cortesol, RA, and adrenal problems. My reflux was untreated from age 7 to 21. They always said I was so lucky I didn't have any kidney faliure. On my recent kidney function test my BUN/creatin ratio was a bit high. The doctors didn't seem to be concerned.
Has possible hyperaldosteronism been tested? Have you hypomagnesemia? Do you use liqorice or diuretics? Your renal arteries may have become narrowed due to the ureter reimplantation. Was it done near the kidneys or near the bladder?
