my daughter has kidney pain

My daughter is 16.  She has had several unrinary tract infections over the last year. The doctor ordered an ultrasound & the result was an enlarged kidney & some reflux. He has referred us to a urologist, who she is going to see on April 7th.  Yesterday, she started having minor "on & off" pain near the solar plexis, and today she had pain in the right kidney area. She has no fever and her appetite is fine. The pain is less if she sits or lays down.  I'm scared to death. Does anyone have any idea what the specialist is going to say?  Has anyone had anything like this?

A differential for an enlarged kidney is hydronephrosis.In hydronephrosis, the collecting system of the kidneys are actually notably swollen and enlarged.This may be due to an underlying obstruction,reflux and blockage of the ureter. The underlying cause should  have been persistent for quite sometime to lead to the condition.

In the case of reflux , the urine flows backward into the ureter and repeatedly may impede drainage of urine from the kidneys into the collecting system down to the bladder.There may be a familial or genetic cause behind this .

sounds exactly like what's going on with my 16 yr old daughter...hope you get to bottom of it soon, mine just had a CT last week but of course no results yet! keep me posted!
