I've been diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease, I am 46 years old male. I have to take thyroxin as my antibodies attack the thyroxin I produce. I was diagnosed approx 3 years ago with very high Trygliserates and have been taking Fibrizate for this time. I am 6 ft 4in of very large build, I weigh approx 18 stone, so am overweight, but not hugely (I have a 38in waist). I have binge drunk Alcohol for 28ish years, but not every day, mostly only weekends. I was feeling I'll following a binge and went to my G.P. I was gassy, felt tired and generally unwell. The G.P. suspected it might be Pancreatitis, but blood tests showed the Pancreas seemed to be working correctly. Following this diagnosis I had 2 pints of beer over 3 days - 4 days later I was feeling very unwell, I haven't had an Alcoholic drink since. Further blood tests indicated my body was fighting something (as during the period of feeling unwell I was shivering a lot. The G.P. then sent me for an ultrasound scan. The results were that I have Fatty Liver Disease - My G.P. informed me that I should loose weight, stop drinking and exercise more.
My questions are :
1) Will loosing weight and exercising fix the problem.
2) Will having high Trygliserates be a cause or a symptom
3) Does the fact that my body attacks my Thyroxin have any relevance
4) Because I felt so Ill after having 2 drinks, does this mean that I won't be able to drink again
5) Is there anything else that should be tested - I ask the question as you are experts
- Any info appreciated
