Fatty Liver

I am 56ys old, female and just had my galbladder taken out with a 3.5 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm gallstone. Was swelling up right before surgery. Can this cause inflamation of my liver? I also had a liver biopsy done at the same time of operation, can this cause variations in the final diagnosis of my liver? What does my liver diagnosis mean?
1. MILD PORTAL CHRONIC INFLAMMATION
2. STEATOSIS,MICRO AND MACROVESICULAR, 20% OF TISSUE
3.PORTAL FIBROSIS
4. SEE NOTE,  Which is as follows
Comment; The findings are non-specific. Clinical correlation is indicated for underlying etiology.PAS with diastase stain is unremarkable. Recticulin stain is unremarkable.  Trichrome stain highlights the portal fibrosis.  The overall change is consistent with grade 2, stage 1.

I used to drink a couple times a week pretty heavy. Have since stopped. Also am losing weight 2/lbs a week...I am overweight. Is it possible to have a glass of wine occasionally?

Hello and sorry for the delay in replying.

From the report there is evidence of fatty liver changes in the liver. Also, it shows inflammation of the liver with some fibrosis. This is graded to determine the progression of liver disease. The report indicates an ongoing inflammatory change in the liver.  The galls stone is unlikely to have produced these changes in the liver. It could be due to alcohol. And stopping alcohol would be the first step to prevent any further damage to the liver.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
