I have been having an onset of new symptoms in the last 4-6 months that I have not had any resolve to. I am a 31 yrs old and just can't seem to get answers to become well again. My GP sent me to a new Neurologist last week who ordered an MRI of my brain to check for lesions (MS) and tumors due to severe migraines, loss of balance and muscle related issues. Everything came back clear. I have been having a dull, uncomfortable pain under my right and left ribcage and also right shoulder. This is also with severe fatigue, nausea, vomiting, constipation, unsettling confusion and not being able to eat much because I fell full right away. He put me on compazine and another nausea Rx, in addition to my other meds, but I did not have any relief. In the last 9 months I have gained 48 pounds with no provocation, have severe edema and in the last 4-6 months have developed high blood pressure with no prior history. (Let me add that in the last 6 days, my Doc says I have now lost 8.5 pounds, again with no provocation). My face is now always flushed looking and is now showing broken blood vessels on my nose and across my face. I was also Dx with a severe potassium deficiency that landed me in the hospital twice and 3 weeks ago they checked my Vit D levels and on a normal scale of 22-64 mine came back at a 2. This may explain the chilling bone pain I have had for almost a year. So I take Rx supplements for the potassium and OTC Vit-D 1000 ug daily, as well as Lasix and a beta blocker/diuretic combo for the edema/high BP. I am also on 1.5 mg of Estradoil for surgical menopause. We eat a low fat, carb and sodium diet because my youngest daughter has severe kidney damage from undiagnosed grade V kidney reflux on both kidneys.
My Neurologist ordered an MRI of my spine with and w/o contrast and my spine came back normal but they discovered 5 indeterminate lesions on my liver. The largest is 7.3 cm and the smallest is 1.7 cm. My Neuro told me to schedule an appt with my GP immediately and all efforts to resolve the muscle related issues were now being put on hold due to the findings. I called and they got me in the following morning. He ordered an abdominal CT and they called yesterday and said that there is also 1 fatty tissue spot and a calcification on my liver as well as the liver lesions. My GP says he isn't concerned because my liver function blood test is normal. He has a wait and see attitude now. From being in a panic in the last 72 hours, I have resorted to the internet to do my own research at reputable medical websites, such as the Mayo Clinic and NIH to name a few. Everything concerning my newest symptoms points directly to the liver lesions. I have also read that the liver function test may also read normal even if the lesions are cancerous. Also, my kidney function tests are normal. No explanation for the SEVERE edema or mottling of the legs and arms.
Perhaps I am more on edge because my Mom died within 5 months of cancer at the age of 44. It was never determined where it actually started because it was everywhere when it was found. Originally, she was actually told it was a bracheal plexus nerve injury and was sent home with pain killers only to have a gran mal seizure 2 days later and told "I'm sorry, we didn't see the tumors the first time. You are terminal.". They still tried chemo, radiation and Gamma Knife on the brain tumors, only resulting in quality of life deterioration.
Does anyone have any experience with issues like this? If so, what was the course your Doc took? I don't feel like this is being addressed properly. I am terrified and am so tired of feeling so sick. I go about my normal daily routine, caring for my husband and family which I deeply love. <3 It is getting more and more difficult to do so. No matter how much I put a smile on, they are starting to read through it.
If anyone has any medical background or any insight, my husband and I would be so appreciative. Also, let me mention, I have no medical insurance. BCBS rescinded my policy over a year ago and I have not been able to find coverage since. The last months total is over $10,000. Thank you in advance for any information that can be given to me.
