slightly elevated alt, I think, and pain

Bare with me a little history. Approxamatly4 years ago had a right and left lower rib injury 3 years or so ago started having weird urq pain, didn't say anything, my wife was battling pancreatic cancer and didn't want her to worry, figured it was the ribs irritated. Have been heavy drinker for years. After my wife mother and father passed away I went to the Dr. Sonogram normal, small cyst on liver, alt 1 number over normal, tried to quit drinking ,failed, pain came and went last couple years, ended up in Er with stomach virus about 4 months ago, told him my history so he decided lft test with my other blood work, everything normal thought pain was muscular, and it was virus, everyone at my work also had it. About a month ago finally put my foot down to stop drinking, tapered myself off now seven days zero alcohol. In the time I was tapering down pain was there, right left, mostly more to the sides and a little around back.got worried went to walk in clinic, nurse practitioner gave physical, woodwork wouldn't be back for a few weeks, said she thought a "little chirossis". Asked her why said she could feel the border if my liver. Told me no worries though, right.next day anxiety over this ended me up in the Er. Dr. Examined said no way, took blood, urine, said liver felt fine, could feel little less than one finger width below normal liver size, could be slightly swollen or normal for me.his words "rock solid normal" about blood and urine ,thinks muscular, extreme anxiety, maybe some ibs. Suggest I see a gi doc.. so Dr office calls say alt slightly elevated at 55, Er says normal at 52, pain still here, worse while sitting, every kind of bowel movement you can think of , none pale or black, gas, but no other problems except panic attacks, feel other wise ok, good appetite, no weight loss, trying to eat healthy, urine fine, I do feel tired but all anxiety is getting to me, constantly worried or thinking about my wife. Gi appt. next month. Any thoughts appreciated.

Please stay on your healthy path, always a good idea. But your doctor assessment of "little chirossis" is pretty vague, try not to worry about that - I've had my share of doctors that were completely off base. And the GI doctor is a great idea. They will be able to tell you exactly where you stand. Your synthesis and excretory numbers are the things to watch, the standard enzyme levels tend to mislead people.
