One of the things you can do is check out progesterone. This is for anyone, yes even men.

It will help with the anxiety. I know what you are going through. I hate to tell you it has been a long road.

You also might want to check out hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue.

You are right, it is chalked up to being woman.

The symptoms can be horrible--I wake up every morning with anxiety and I have sporadic panic attacks just when I am about to fall asleep.  I am in my mid 40's and take a xanax before bed which seems to help.  Sometimes the anxiety overrides it and I have a full blown attack for about 45 minutes and then another thereafter for about 20 minutes.  The symptoms start with a feeling of hot oil going through my chest and then my heart starts racing.. I cannot get it to self correct when I cough so I just tough it out for the next 45  minutes.  Then I start to freeze and shake--then everything goes away and I can move furniture or do whatever I want with an abundance of energy.  I dread them and hope someday they go away.  I have been tested for everything from SVT to other heart problems and come out healthy.  I chalk it up to being a woman.

Hi,

Do you mind if I ask your age??  I am 41.  Never had a child.  Missed period in Dec. Took 2 hpt's and got negative results.  Was due for next period yesterday and still no period.  I am kinda concerned and was wondering if I might be experiencing early menopause or peri-menopause too.  Can you share some of the symptoms you experienced and how you knew for a fact that you were starting peri-menopause.  Thanks alot!!

I am right with you on that. I can't stand all of the side effects of antidepressants and want to avoid them as much as possible. I am taking a small dose of Ativan as needed for now as ordered by my primary doc. I don't even take it every day, just when I feel I need it. I am due to see my obgyn in 2 weeks and will see what she has to say. I hope you find a good solution to your anxiety, it is so frustrating. I started with my symptoms about 5 months ago, and hope this is going to pass soon.
