According to some literature, migraines may follow a time clock and may be associated with the hypothalamus in the brain. A headache journal or the headache tracker here in the forum may help identify possible triggers that you can avoid especially at night. I do recall reading an article about early morning (4:00 A.M.) headache/migraine cycles. The article suggested that, if my memory serves me right, our bodily hormonal cycles begin releasing a type of chemical to begin the awakening process. I can't remember if it was related to the thyroid or the thalmus however. If I can find it I will post the title here.
