Can't keep eyes open but I am not tired!

for about 6 months, I started having difficulty keeping my right eye open and was squinted so badly and holding my eye open to try and drive. I went to several eye specialist and now I have a neurologists who takes care of my migraines but he thinks that have sleep apena. I am not tired and I do sleep to where I have no trouble sleeping> I just can't keep my eyes open and I have to make noises with my mouth or sing loudly to keep my eyes from shutting all the way down especially when I am driving.. I even walk and talk at work and home with my eyes completely shut. I am very scared of wrecking or hurting myself. I already hit my head by running into the corner of a walll. I even ran into a woman walking with my eyes shut. What is going on?? I don't think I have Benign Essential B.. eye problem either. spasms of the lids?!?? the eye told me!! Something is wrong. but what?

I've had the same eye problem that everyone else has on here.  I've been to every Doctor about it and they make me fell like I'm making it all up or tell me things that will correct it and get my hopes up and it doesn't do anything.  I've done the eye drops for allergy, red eye, artificial tears, eye lube and all that.  I've been given different prescriptions like clonazepam and lexapro and they didn't word.  I've done the BOTOX injections every 3 months for 2 years and they didn't work.  Now my  Ophthalmologist says it's because of my type 1 diabetes.  I don't think that the reason if all of you have the same condition.  It's like everyone tries something and after months of going to appts and paying for it and then it doesn't work they blame something else for the reason and pass you off to someone else.  I'm tried of straining my forehead to be able to keep my eyes open all day and getting headache because of it, or holding my eyes open so I can watch tv or drive the car. I to have found that when I eat, talk, sing, hum or fill up my cheeks with air helps keep my eyes open.

What I thought of based on this that has been getting me through the day at work has been chewing gum all day.  Maybe keeping the muscles in your face active while chewing gives them something to do other than making your eyes close.  It's not a cure but it has been something that has been helping me and relieving some of my stress on the situation.  Maybe chewing gum could help some of you also.  I thought I would pass this along.

It's been several months since anyone posted to this thread, but I'm wondering if anyone has found answers to this eye problem?  I've had it for a year now, and I'm convinced it's anxiety related. I've had PTSD for eleven years, but this eye issue began and worsened very slowly over the course of a year. Looking back, I can see it worsened alongside increasing anxiety. I, too, went to many specialists, including a neurologist, an ophthalmologist, had an MRI done, etc. No answers. My dermatologist wanted to try Botox, and while that took away my ability to furrow my brow, it had zero effect on my eyes.

One thing that did help was acupuncture, but only as long as I was on the table. It was fascinating to experience her pressing on a pressure point and have my eyes open. We have plans to do a more aggressive treatment of two visits per week for three weeks. I will let you all know what sort of change, if any, occurs.

I'm also going to see someone at our local hospital research facility, hopefully in the next week or two. I'm determined to find answers, especially since I know I'm not the only one dealing with this. I'd love to hear from any members of this thread, to see how you're doing.

I am anxious to hear if the apple cider vinegar is still helping you keep your eyes open?  My husband is having the same problem, and the Botox injections have not helped.  He had the injections a couple weeks ago, so it may take a while before it works.   No luck yet, and he is miserable.  I am amazed at how many people are having this problem, with no results.

i also have the same problem with my eyes not opening when I need them to. This has been coming on over the last 4 years. I am on stress leave from work.  It is hard to see the TV and computer, sensitive to light. i also need to sing or talk out  loud when driving to keep my eyes open.  I have good days and bad days.  I have been told I have a sleep disorder. I have seen all types of doctors with no answers.  My family can't understand what is wrong with me, it is very hard to take.  I am always tired, when I get up I am tired, never feel rested.  I to not like to be around people because I feel they are staring at me.  I always wear sunglasses I don't want any one to see my eyes. If there is some one out there that can help I would appreciate it.
