Chronic pain at base of skull and assoc. problems

Hello. I have had a headache now for over 8 days straight. it never goes away, despite meds, only changes. At its worst, nausea, vomiting, pressured speech, difficulty finding words, remembering what i am doing, completeting tasks. it wakes me while i am sleeping lasts from the moment I wake up, and doesnt go away laying down. At its best, dull pressure.I had neck pain with no headache 2 weeks ago for a week daily. Everyone is telling me to see a doc, but my crnp just wants to believe its a migraine and prescribe meds, which I believe is wrong. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. There is a very distinct change in who I am and it is really bothering me. thanks

Thanks for writing in.
Chronic headache needs further investigation in order to make the correct diagnosis. I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.
Since you also had neck pain, it is important to rule out causes like cervical spondylitis and disc prolapse which can cause headache.
What is the exact location of this headache?
I would advise you to take rest, avoid too much caffeine and sleep for at least 8 hrs in the night till you get to see your doctor.

HI, I don't know if u had an injury that has been agrivated or if u r under stress....so it is diff to say, but if u r concerned it is not what ur PC dr is saying ....get him to listen and do further tests or find a diff dr.

Have u tried the meds ur dr rx'd?....at least give them a shot and see, they may give u some relief until u get a dx.

Being sleep deprived with constant pain will change u a bit....and I am sure u want to change that...for now try and take relaxing baths....candles...music ect....it may help with the wound up feelings and help u get some sleep.
