Head pressure

For about two weeks now, I've had a feeling of pressure at the top and left side of my head, accompanied by slight blurred vision and a feeling of weakness in my left arm and leg. I've also had head pain. I know these symptoms would usually indicate the onset of a migraine (I've suffered from them in the past), but they've been almost constant...the feeling of pressure in my head especially I'm finding really upsetting. I've spoken to a doctor, who said it was probably a virus, but this was over two weeks ago, and the symptoms haven't abated. It feels almost as though there is a bubble, or pocket of pressure, between my skull and brain. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar? Am I overeacting? I'm really worried.

Just to follow up -- some things were making me extremely sick -- the things that were giving off radiation 24/7 in my house -- my wireless router (wifi -- and my laptop which has a function to "search" for wifi in the air),   my cordless phone and cell phone (which radiate ALL the time -- even if not being spoken into), and the gaming system in the house -- I learned that my body could no longer take the radiation from these and hence the dizziness, nausea, headaches, anxiious shaky feeling.   If you live in an apt. building -- you can also be absorbing radiation from neighbors cordless phones which can be very powerful (esp. DECT phones).    If you need to have these items -- make sure they are not near your bedroom so your body can recover over night.

I felt a million times better once I shut these off.   As I learned more though, I saw that my "hyper" sensitivy now extended to electrical applianes -- not to the same degree as the above mentioned items -- but still I feel worse in front of a computer screen or next to a washing machine.   Check out WEEP initiative in Canada, electrosensitity.org on the web.  I know it sounds like science fiction -- but i was suffering SOO much and this was DEFINITELY the answer -- I got my life back -- even if my life is more limited than it used to be

Yes, it is diffecult not knowing fully what is going on.  One other item I had was the morning prior to my mri I actually started to black out during a meeting at work, with my right hand shaking uncontrollably for a few seconds.  That was scary, and would not be explained by a sinus deal in my opinion.  I have to have a heart to heart with my neuro next week, but I fear the dreaded "we can't find anything really wrong" answer.  Keep me posted on the effectiveness of the norty....drug.  Take care and good luck!

Hi Bret,
Meningitis was never mentioned by any of the docs... presumably due to the fact that her tons and tons of  bloodwork are all normal.

She just started the nortryptiline yesterday and the dose is 10 mg at bedtime, so it is really too soon to tell.  She is also taking ativan if needed for anxiety..... she took it today and it did take the edge off, but did not relieve her symptoms fully.  So she is convinced it is not anxiety, psychological, etc.  I think she is very hyper-focused on every symptom in her body and still believes that there is something medically wrong with her, even though they can find nothing.  But as a mother, I don't want to dismiss the possibility that anything really could be medically wrong.  It is very difficult.

Interesting to hear about your daughter.  Curious what started it all.  I have many of the same symptoms since coming down with a 103 degree temp 3 months ago-constant head pressure to varying degrees, headaches, lightheadedness/unstable feeling, and feeling zoned out to some degree all of the time.  I had an MRI 6 days ago and the first glance revealed chronic sinusitus.  The anti biotics given to me helped me for 4 days, but now since yesterday I've gone back into the bad symptoms again.  Has the medicine given to your daughter to relieve the head pressure worked at all?  Has she been checked for viral meningitus?  That has many of these symptoms.  Comment back.

I appreciate your question.   Most appliances only require me to use them for a second -- I put the dishes in the dishwasher (add soap) turn it on and walk away.  If i stay close, then I start to get a tingling sensation or a headache -- so I watch TV a bit farther than others would.  My computer does give me some pain -- I had an older "thick" screen and now i only use my laptop but on an extension keyboard.  I actually do over do it on the computer and I get a headache and it affects my sleep (if I use it at night).   Hairdryers have super high electromagnetic fields so I can't use them.  I have to speak on a speakerphone to use even a regular phone -- I assume my overexposure came from my cell and cordless phone so I am extra sensitive in my ears and head.

Look, its not a perfect life -- but on the other hand I have three beautiful kids and I want to be healthy and happy.  I feel blessed that at least I know what ails me -- and i can control it -- well to some degree at least.

I will always be happy to answer any questions that might help.

I figured out what was wrong with me -- it might help you.    I had headaches, dizziness anxiety and even some nausea and "light sleeping."  I realized that I was reacting badly to wifi, cell phones and cordless phones (also gaming stations) in the house that emit radiation 24/7 even when not in active use.  I could barely function, let alone take care of my three kids.  I learned its called electromagnetic sensitivity and is recognized as a disability in at least Norway.  You can look up electrosenitivity.org or WEEP initiative which is Canadian.  I beleive Germany just gave public warnings about WIFI and Russia just gave cell phone warnings to children this week.  In short, I shut everything off and began to feel better.  Unfortunately, this "sensitivity" extends to all things that emit an electromagnetic field -- alarm clocks, stereos. electrical appliances.
All the best and feel free to write if it turns out to be right or if I can help.

My daughter has had constant head pressure for over 2 months now.  Same feeling you describe, no blurry vision or weakness.  However, she is dizzy (has been for 5 months) so the docs think the pressure is from anxiety over the dizziness.  Nothing helps.  We are going to seek psychological evaluation as well as continuing with the ENT for the dizziness and a new neurologist for the head pressure.  Dr. just put her on a very low (10 mg) dose of nortryptiline to see if it helps the head pressure/ache.  MRI, CT Scan and bloodwork all normal except for low Vitamin D (11 should be 25-100)  I have read about vitamin D alot on this board,  her doctor and endocrinolgist say this is a very common deficiency and does not necessarily have an "underlying disease" causing it.  She has been checked for Lyme, Rheumatological problems, thyroid..... can anyone think of anything else that should be done?
