Headache and Visual problems

My husband has been having an almost constant headache that peaks to migraine level at times on left side of head for approx. 3 months. Symptoms continue to increase. Tunnel vision durin Migrains. Left eye now has blurred peripheral vision and recently there is reduced hearing in left ear and sensation of pressure. Feelings of "zinging" or buzzing like an electrical shock that shoots backwards on the left side of head. A couple of times there was also dizziness. Constant fatigue is also felt. Confusion when headache is bad. Medication taken is propranolol 10mg 2x per day to help reduce migrain which does help. Male 46 years old. Head injury 4 years ago but no loss of consciousness so no xrays taken. Sister has MS.  Waiting to see a neurologist but that is weeks away and then that will only be a consultation never mind getting booked for tests......growing very concerned. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi,

I feel your husbands pain. See my post called, "Why do I suffer from chronic head pain".
I recommend and MRI, and MRA if need be.I take Propanolol also. Considering uping that to as much as 80mg 2x/day if it is helping you. It helps me alot with the myofacial pain. (ringing in ears, blurred visio, etc.) I too get dizzyness. Apparently that is a common sypmtpon of migraine. Propanolol can help that too. Also, tell him not to stand up very fast, and when bending down, lift head up slowly. If MRI is negative, then consider adding a maintenance med like Paxil or Cynbalta to help balance seratonin in brain. Ibuprophin can help too as it reduces inflamation which is what a migraine is. Migraine is inflamation of blood vessels in brain. Also, look out for triggers. Such as aspartime, chocolate. I hope this helps. I would be happy to dialogue further. Thank you for being there for your husband. My wife has been there fpr me and I know it's a big deal.
