Nothing works

For the last year I have had a lot of headaches, almost daily. I am prone to migraines and have been since I was 5.  In the past month I have been having ones that hurt so bad I end up in tears because it feels like my head is being slammed with a hammer.  3 times I have experienced these same headaches that start from behind my right eye and down behind my right ear.  Yes, it could be sinus related, but I doubt it.  My Doctor has tried a lot of meds, but with no success.  I have had MRI's and they are all normal.  While experience these pains my right shoulder has tingling, numbness feel, and 2 days I go I was told that my prescription for my reading glasses is going up, because of my right eye.  I have always had 20/20 vision untill last year.  The glass that i use are like the ones you buy in a store just to have magnafication so you can read, except my prescription is even lower then those.  These headaches have disrupted my life so much that I am on the verge of loosing my job.  PLease somebody out there help me.  My family depends on my health.

Hi,
How are you? It is good that you have normal MRI results. However, you can also try to have another opinion as suggested by selma. If this is still normal, primary headaches such as migraine and cluster headache may be responsible. Cluster headaches present with excruciating pain in the vicinity of the eye. The attacks may occur every day for weeks to months and  then disappear for up to a year. This is usually managed with oxygen, prescription emdications or intranasal application of local anesthetic agent. Have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.

I'm in the same boat, except for the glasses.  I was born with this issue, too.  Only, I had to wait 'til I was all grown up to find out that all along this has been a migraine issue haunting me my whole life.  That's the short version.  Believe me, you don't want the long version.  Right now, for the next couple of months, I am to try melatonin in the evening a couple of hours before bed.  So far, it's not working.  I have a migraine that I go to bed with and wake up with that never quite goes away.  I'm so tired of feeling sick all the time.

I've mentioned Topamax to the neurologist before.  I didn't think to ask about it again lately.  He is planning on using a low dosage Calcium Channel Blocker in his next bag of tricks.

All I know is that the part of my scalp that is always tender when migraines are bothering me has been staying tender because the migraines haven't gone away even to take a short vacation.  It has been quite debilitating with the fatigue and nausea being amongst the worst of the symptoms.

My doctors tried to tell me that my headaches were sinus related as well. It is not true. I finally got a prescription for something that worked for me called Topamax. If you haven't tried that. It's worth a shot!

Hi, I am so sorry u r having this debilitating pain.

I would request copies of ur MRI's and the reports to have them reviewed. Many times when a Dr is looking for what he suspects, he misses what is right in front of him.

This is the best option....please have them reviewed by another dr.

Good luck and do keep us posted
