Hi there,
I had PTC and I was allergic to Diamox. (it has a type of sulfa).
My neurosurgeon gave me a copy of a journal article that showed that Topamax worked very well compared to Diamox in lowering csf pressure. I don't have that article anymore but it was a well done study published in Lancet or some similar publication.
In my case, it did work well and Topamax brought my pressure down. It had an added benefit with headaches that I have as a bonus.
Good luck
Hi, TOPAMAX helps change the morphology of ur HA, so u may have approx 2 weeks of an adjustment period and as long as ur dosage does not change u should be ok....
I am surprised u r not on DIAMOX as it is a stronger diuretic and helps reduce the excess CSF fluid,
TOPAMAX also is a diuretic but not to the extent that DIAMOX is,.....
U may want to look into anti inflammatory foods that may help with the pressure HA's u get with this condition.
