Puzzling Headache and tiredness

In the past 2 months I have developed a daily headache. More often then not they turn into a migraine. They make me extremely tired and I am having difficulty staying awake to take care of my 6 month old daughter. By the time my husband comes home from work on afternoon shift I feel weak and immediatly leave the baby in his care to go to bed. I take T3's and they dont seem to have any affect on the pain. I get pain and pressure in my face into my jaw as well as between my eyes.
On another note I am going to mention that I have an ultrasound due to what feels like menstral cramps although i have not gotten my period since having my daughter, and have had 2 bladder infections. Could the headaches have something to due with this perhaps or does it sound like something different all together. Some insight would be helpful

You're welcome!  I have been having a migraine today, so not reading carefully, but looked back at my post and it looks like I didn't mention another cause of daily headaches and fatigue- sleep apnea.  So if other tests prove nothing, you might check into that possibility too w/sleep apnea testing.  That's when you have at least so many episodes while sleeping of not breathing and with the reduction in oxygen in the blood, it can cause a headache and cause fatigue as well.  Look forward to your update!

Thank you. I think I will definately go and get my iron levels checked as I had very very low levels when I was pregnant but I havn't gone to get them checked out again.  My thyroid I have had checked more times than I can count and they find nothing wrong. I have also had all hormonal testing done as the were sure I had polycysticovarian syndrome but that was rules out with an internal ultrasound about 3 years or so ago. My ultrasound is on June 4th and shall let you know how that goes. :)

Hi,
How are you? The headaches could be associated to the hormonal changes you are experiencing now. Bladder infections are common and can be treated with antibiotics. A urine culture and urinalysis and CBC and ferritin levels suggested by Surgimenopause will help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.

You are planning to have an ultrasound to see if you might be pregnant again?  You should be getting your ferritin and blood iron tested, as iron deficiency can cause fatigue and headache.  You can get symptoms of iron deficiency even with a normal CBC (I have before).

And since this sounds like a change in your headache situation, you should get a brain scan.  Additionally, if you find you are not pregnant, you should get your thyroid function, adrenal hormones, prolactin, FSH and LH levels checked, because you may have an underlyine endocrine problem.

The pain in the face sounds very familiar, as I suffer from pain there myself often times with my own migraines.  I have TMJ dysfunction with arthritis in my jaws and the TMJ problem can cause migraines.  I used a flat planed splint at night to try to prevent my arthritis from worsening and also it helps with the migraine situation.

But you should get all possibilities checked into for your symptoms.

Please give me an update after your ultrasound (and hopefully ferritin testing)?
