Hi,
Your physician may actually be thinking along the line of migraine headaches with aura. However, tinnitus (ear sound or ringing) as an aura for migraine headaches is not fairly common. I do agree that you have a complete ENT assessment first. Tinnitus may be due to an underlying ear problem. Are there any other associated symptoms like dizziness, faintness or loss of balance? Any known allergies, previous sinus problems or ear discharge?
Well my doctor has decided to put me on Topamax for now and see how that works.
Your symptoms mirror some I've had. Best thing is to find a really good Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist (ENT). Sinus infections and inner ear infections cause your symptoms. Relatively easy fix but only if you get good medical attention.
Hi HgPolly, how are you and how old are you? You need to give some more details regarding the headaches and the weird sounds you hear - as to their onset, frequency, any associated symptoms like giddiness, vomiting, vision disturbance etc. How does the pain come down and do you feel anything which triggers? Is your blood pressure and blood sugar in normal range? Can you post the CT head report and has your doctor presently put you on any medications. I feel you need to be further investigated by a neurologist and also by an ENT doctor since you also mention of Tinnitus related symptoms. Do update on your further visits and investigations. Take care.
