Sharp pain in top of head.

I am 25 years old female and I get this weird pain in my head sometimes.  I usually call it my "mini-stroke."  It always happens in the same spot on the top left part of my head.  It feels like someone is stabbing me.  The pain only lasts a few seconds.  It makes me wince a little.  Once it happens, it will happen off-and-on during that day.  It will then go away for awhile.  It pops up at totally random times.  What could cause this?  Is this just some form of a headache?

It could be. But to be on the safe side you should call your Doc and ask him to refer you to a Neurologist and get an eeg done. An EEG is a video recording of your brain waves. It is painless, and you will most likely get some answers. Also you should probably get an mri and a catscan.

Hi,
How are you? Short, stabbing, extremely intense headaches that can  last for a few seconds may be caused by ice pick headaches. This may occur in patients with primary headaches such as migraine or cluster headaches, and may not be due to organic causes. However, if it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
