Triptans and chronic migraine

Hi!

I want to know one thing. There are some strange kind of migraines where you have constant symptoms and not the usual migraine attacks. I know that some doctors consider all forms of headache without an underlying disease as migraine. So migraine is not just the usual half sided three day long pulsating headache with nausea and noise and light sensitivity. It can give you very strange symptoms. I am sure a lot of you know that.

My question is if triptans help against these strange chronic forms of migraine as well? And could they then be used for diagnostical purposes?

Anyone knows?
What are your experiences with triptans?

yes for me I have headaches that reoccur after Triptans wear off sometimes for a week but they Triptans work. Specifically Imitrex works. Rizatriptan not so much.

My daughter takes Imatrex and I asked her about this. Now she's 11 so I listed out all her other various symptom's she experience's and asked if she felt Imatrex dealt with them. She said they did help but like all medicine doesn't always work every time on them either. I personally do see that there are times the medicine helps a lot.

Hi,
Aside from migraine, there are other types of primary headaches such as tension or cluster headaches. And these may occur together also depending on a variety of factors. Triptans constrict blood vessels in the brain and relieve swelling and is used to effectively and quickly relieve headache pain, sensitivity to light and noise, and nausea and vomiting associated with migraines. They are indicated for moderate to severe headaches.  Migraine management, however, may vary from one person to another. And what works for one may not work for another. It is best that you check with your attending physician also for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
