What is wrong with me?

Hi, I am a freshman in high school and I'm in need of answers. I have health problems since about second grade and was never diagnosed. It started when my teacher noticed I was out of breath, my eyes werent tracking, I had severe head aches, I had hot to touch hives that would move around on my body, and my joints would ache and swell to where I would strain to walk. My parents took my to Texas Childrens Hospital and the doctors where dumbfounded and highly confused. I went to numerous specialists and got no answers which to my parents was very aggrivating. I was getting used to not feeling well and we let it go and I seemed to get somewhat better. Then when I got my period the symptoms came rolling back. We contacted my family doctor and got used to the symptoms again. Then right before turning fourteen my shortness of breath got worse. I would be sitting on the coach after school watching Spongbob and it felt like I had just ran a mile. One day I went with my mom to the doctor to pick up my shot records from school and our doctor who we are very close to, asked how I was. I said good and my mom mentioned my shortness of breath. The doctor sat me down and put the pulse reader on my finger. The nurses and doctor stood around me as my pulse was taken. It started out at 75-80 and in a thirty second span jumped to 125. The doctor imediatly order a EKG. And at this time the doctors office had closed but no really cared. The EKG was normal except for just showing a high pulse. The doctor sent me to a cardiologist. They ordrered two more EKGs, a heart ultrasound, and I wore a monitor for a month. And at the end of it all the doctor came into the room and basically said, :I dont know whats wrong with you. Come back if it gets worse. THere is nothing I can do." To me I didnt really buy it and I was irritated. I again got used to the symptoms and the unusually high pulse and moved on with my life. No within the last few months I have had severe migranes that will last two to three days. I have nausea and slight dizziness. I have noticed a slight change in my vision and appetite.

I really just want some answers and more than anything my symptoms are getting really annoying. I just started high school and with the hours of homework everyweek and my health it is becoming  a lot. If you have any answers please let me know...

Hi,
Thanks for the update. It is great to hear you are feeling better now! With vitamin D deficiency, supplements taken by mouth or given by injection usually results in a complete recovery. Eating healthy, exercising regularly ( preferably outdoors) and drinking plenty of fluids are really highly recommended. Take care always and best regards.

I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I am feeling a lot better! My doctor ran some blood tests to check my iron and vitamin d levels. My iron came back fine but my vitamin d level was very low... The doctor prescibed me 50,000 units of vitamin d to take once of week. It has made me feel so great and I am very alert during classes now. Thank you for helping me go to the doctor. Thus might not be all that's wrong but at least we have one clue.

Hi,
How are you? Was there imaging modalities done such as Ct scan or MRI of your head? You may need to have further evaluation done by a neurologist to determine the underlying cause. Increased heartbeat or tachycardia may be attributed to a variety of causes such as heart problems, hypertension, thyroid conditions, rapidly firing triggers, sleep apnea and even electrolyte imbalance. Check with your doctor for further evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted. Warm regards.

Dear Mustang, certainly gluten intolerance or allergies to other things could cause some of your symptoms.  What's most important is to seek good medical care.  Sometimes doctors will tend to dismiss what they don't understand.  In that case, you need a new doctor or a good clinic or hospital to diagnose your condition or conditions.  You have too much going on to rely on forums for answers.   Persist on getting a diagnosis.

When you said this started in second grade, I was thinking that is when hormones start surfacing to a lesser extent.  That's when many kids start needing glasses.  So, chances are that something is not functioning too well.  Maybe you are not absorbing certain vitamins and minerals and it's throwing your hormones out of balance - the list is endless as to where the problem could be coming from.  The first thing I would like you to try is a gluten free diet.  You can look that one up on the internet.  Many people get relief with this diet.  Gluten intolerance can block the absorption of several nutrients and these nutrients, when deficient, can cause many problems, hormonal imbalances, etc.
You'll need to take gluten free vitamins and make sure if you take any medications that they are also gluten free.  Gluten effects the absorption of magnesium, calcium, some b-vitamins, etc., etc.  That is why I suggest this diet.  Leave me a message if you have any questions.  I hope this helps.
