constant migrane pain.

dear dr. my partner who is 40 yrs old. has constant migranes /headaches  and get quite ill. she is currently seeing a chiropractor  for an apparent 4.4cm neck protruding forward  roughly c5 to base of skull no curve at all. (yrs of damage we assume) the chiro says could take 9 mths to realign the bone  placement. what can she use in the mean time for the constant migrane pain and is the chiro practor doing more harm than good.  . the pain relief seems to be minimal. id appreciate any feedback yours sincerely gawain

Hi,
How are you? I agree with you that her occupation and work may aggravate her condition. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are very common in the workplace. Before considering the injected muscle relaxant, have this evaluated first by her doctor to determine if her condition can benefit from this. Take care and best regards.

thankyou for your response. .   she has indeed had ct of the head neck and lumber region. as she has her hips out aswell.  her dr however dose not accept the chiropractor xrays as they are standing up where as ct etc is lying down and wont show the protruding neck issue. 44mm which is quite alot. the neck is pointing in straight line from c7 up to base of neck. the chiropractor treatment seems to help but gives increased head aches almost to the point of vomiting . i brought her a magnetic neck brace to ease the pain it dose subside it only to the extent it does not reach migrane levels. she is an office worker in front of computer aswell which i guess compounds this issue. .she has a past active history of trampoline competitve involvement and also water sking too.  would perhaps an injection at base skull for muscle relaxant be helpful .??  if i get the scans i will endevour to postthem for your viewing regards gawain

Hi,
How is your partner? Were there imaging studies done in the past such as MRI or CT scan? It would really help to have these images to help identify the possible anatomical causes. There are plenty of over-the-counter pain medications available. However, these can also lead to rebound headaches that is why prescription medications are usually indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
