headache

My son is 15+ years. He use to complain a head ache some times in the morning and some times in the evening for 3 years. This was diagnosed as migraine and was given pain killers like panadol. This year from January he got the same problem once a week and i took him to dr, many times. 10 days before he got a sever head ache in front head and backside of the neck. Pain killers were given but the pain is still there. later MRI was taken. observation was " tiny subcortical hyperintensities noted over the occipital region on T2/Flair. No diffusion restriction.
all the other s were normal. Dr. said nothing to worry and gave pain killers again. but my son is still suffering.
because of this he could not sit for his term test. He is doing his O/L in May. He can' t study due this situation. Can this be a serious problem ? advice me please.

Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community.

I'm sorry but I don't understand the tech part of test results but, if they are sure that he is having migraines then you need to talk to his doctor about some preventative meds (meds he takes on a daily basis to help prevent migraines). Pain meds are great and are needed but treating migraines requires pain meds/abortive meds as well as preventative, daily meds. Unfortunately treating migraines is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to try this and try that then change the dosage on this or that until you find the right combo for your son. No 2 people are alike.
