hormonal migraine

After 35 years of monthly migraines I am now approaching menopause. I am lucky if I have a couple of pain-free weeks a month, last month it was one day. As I had no headaches when I was pregnant or when I had a contraceptive implant I still have hopes that once I no longer bleed I will have no more migraines. For now though the lenghtening of the time with migraines is extremely worrying and exasperating. My life has been put on hold by the disease. Can anyone addvise ?

Thanks for your answer. No test were ever done (I live in the UK) but it is just evident why I have these attacks. My mother was also a sufferer with the same triggers. Over the years I have been trying almost everything from Herbal Medicine to CranioSacral therapy, from Chiropractic to Tibetan Herbs. I am now taking Vitamin B2 and 5, Magnesium and Co-enzyme Q10.
I wondered if anyone can advise if I should take hormones for another few years to counteract any Oestrogen dips. Or will the pain just go away with less periods? At the moment it seems to get worse rather than better although I can't really figure out any logic behind it...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? What diagnostic tests were done in the past? I'm sorry to hear about your 35-year history of monthly migraine and I understand your concern regarding this. Migraine may indeed be caused by specific triggers such as hormone changes and removal of such triggers may help. Aside from medications prescribed for the symptoms, complementary and alternative therapies such as acupuncture may also help. Take care and hope all is well. Do keep us posted and best regards.
