Are you on any preventive medicine, like propranolol, topomax or amitriptyline? Otherwise ask your doc about this. It is usually easier to treat the sooner you start.
Ask to be referred to a neurologist. I only know because we've had that kind of thing in the family. You must go as soon as poss so that you can relieve that terrible pain. I don't know where you live but in U.K. we can make a private appointment (megabucks), and thank goodness we found the money. Then they transferred us to a National Health neuro dept. where the same posh doc works. My husband suffers cluster headaches- you don't want to know- but they have managed to make a cocktail of drugs for prevention and treatment. Not 100% but much, much better. Insist and be very assertive when you go to the doc. Say after me " I would like to see a neurologist please who specialises in headaches" ! Good Luck.
Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community.
How long have you been on the medication? I have never heard of that medication but I do know it takes AT LEAST a month to know whether or not it will help.
Some tips you can try is wrap something around your head like a bandanna....snug but not to tight. Putting a bit of pressure on those blood vessels does give relief...you'll be surprised. You can also put Mentholatum across your forehead and on your temples. And you can do that with or without the wrap, depending on if you like the heat or not.
Another suggestion is a hot or cold pack, whichever is more comfy to you, every one is different.
Give the medication a month or so. However, you have the same migraine for more than 7 days straight then you need to see your doctor.
