Hi,
Indeed, the so called hypertension headaches occurs when there is severe hypertension: over 200 systolic and 110 diastolic. This usually presents with generalized pain which is most severe in the morning and diminishes throughout day. Treating with appropriate blood pressure medication helps control this. Take care and do keep us posted.
What does your blood pressure usually run? Have you ever been diagnosed with high blood pressure? 215/170 is should be a concern. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can present with migraines/headaches.
Hi,
How are you? It is great to know that you can wane your migraines with your own way and I know that this information will be helpful to other headache sufferers as well. I also would like to add complementary and alternative medicine ( CAM) such as biofeedback therapy as another option. The National Institute of Health has made a lot of studies showing the effectiveness to a lot of migraine patients. I hope this helps. Take care and best regards.
Usually, when I feel them coming on, I could wane them off with two aspirin, 5mg of Lexapro and applying ice against my carotid arteries.
Hi,
How are you? Do you still have your daily headaches? Daily headaches may be due to hemicrania continua which is a rare form of chronic headache. Sometimes, superimposed on the continuous but fluctuating pain are occasional attacks of more severe pain. The reason I mentioned this is that this type of headache responds well to indomethacin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Talk to your doctor about this. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
Hi,
I suffer from migraine varients. I know exactly how you feel. My neuro diagnosed me with Migraine Varients. Specifically Hemiplegic and Acephalgic. The hemiplegic mimic stroke with actual motor weakness and facial droop. I have about 15 spots/lesions in my brain that are believed to be caused by the migraines. The aura is scary as hell. I get numbness in my hands and face.I have vision issues.I cannot speak properly. My blood pressure and heart rate go crazy. It is truely frightening. I too get treated like I am crazy when I go to the ER.Last time I went the ER nurse did not know what migraine aura even was....
Migraines are so poorly understood...I was fortunate enough to find a neurologist who actually has migraines herself....Because if someone has never experienced them they have no idea how painful and frightening they can be....
Please Take Care....
Hi,
Atypical migraines are really debilitating and you should not be treated that way. However, what you are feeling may also be caused by stress and anxiety/depression that is why you are reacting that way. This imbalance in hormones responds well to medications and therapy. Your blood pressure should also be controlled and that you should try as much as possible to avoid the trigger (weather) to prevent recurrences. What medications are you in right now? You may need to have this changed also for proper management. Talk to your attending about this. Take care always.
