Bad Wreck- Am Ok

Totaled Car. Turning left as light turned yellow and an oncoming vehicled decided to shoot around the slow oncoming traffic into the oncoming turning lane and then back into the oncoming lanes to make the yellow light and he hit me at  a high speed head on. I never saw him, just my air bags deplying and myself hitting everythin in the car as i spun in circles as it filled with smoke. What a feeling, as you wait for more impact becuase you know there are screeching tires everywhere. He was the only one who hit me. THe collision drove my mazda car into circles and backwards out of the intersection. He was driving a huge pickup truck, so he is fine. My car was in pieces all over the intersection, the front is gone, my airbags saved me according to the EMT's, fire-men and police-man, they said i needed to go to the hosp. as it was a hard hit.

I was on the way home from youth group so my youth pastor and part of the youth group got there immediatly and got ahold of my parents, as I was loaded in the ambulance in a back-board, nothing like looking out as your loaded and seeing your friends freaking out, your car spread everywhere smoking and knowing that you are going to be ok. I'm fine except for whiplash, a tongue bitten through on the side, and big bruises and swelling everywhere becuase I hit stuff, like my knee hit the dash, my arm hit the door, my hit is bruises, my kneck is swollen from the airbags... but all x-rays and CT were clear. Praise the Lord, because they couldn't take me off the back-board until they were and that back-board is sure uncomfortable. So, I had collision insurance which is also a blessing, becuase my car is in a million pieces, no matter who's fault the police write it up as.

I'm so thankful that you're not hurt seriously!

You'll probably feel like it in the next few days, so you take it easy like everyone else said.  And take pain medication and muscle relaxants if it is really bad; I've hurt so badly in the past that I didn't know if I could make it to the bathroom in time, and you don't want that, :o)

I've found that Arnica gel really helps with bruising; you just gently apply it over the bruised area, and it feels cool and a little better, and then is helps the bruise go away more quickly.  I've had a lot of bruises, so I know from experience.  I had to find a store that sold Arnica gel on vacation once, after my shin made contact with a stone coffee table; now I always carry some when I travel.

I hope you're using ice packs to get the swelling down, wrapped in a towel or pillow case so they don't get you too cold.

Drink lots of water.  I'm trying to think of all the advice I've gotten after a trauma.

Let the insurance company worry about the car stuff; I'm sure the police made reports, so the insurance company will have plenty of information.

Relax and let your body heal.

Love and gentle hugs,

Kathy

Oh Sunshine!  That is the worst news we have had in a long time honey....I am soooo glad you are ok and I hope that your recovery will be fast with as little pain as possible.  I know how painful it is to bite through your tongue (seizures) and thankfully it does tend to heal rather quickly despite being in a warm, wet place.  I hope that they gave you something to rinse with so you can avoid infection...Amosan helps and takes some of the pain out so give it a try if Mom can find it ok?  Don't be afraid to take any pain killers either honey...you are going to need them and lots of rest.  I have been in accidents and the after feeling is a lot like after a seizure (you don't know what hit you after a seizure either!)

Please keep us up to date as to how you are making out ok honey?  We will all be worried about you and I just wish there was something we could do to take the aches and pains away for you!

Lots of gentle hugs,
Rena
