Bad Wreck- Am Ok

Totaled Car. Turning left as light turned yellow and an oncoming vehicled decided to shoot around the slow oncoming traffic into the oncoming turning lane and then back into the oncoming lanes to make the yellow light and he hit me at  a high speed head on. I never saw him, just my air bags deplying and myself hitting everythin in the car as i spun in circles as it filled with smoke. What a feeling, as you wait for more impact becuase you know there are screeching tires everywhere. He was the only one who hit me. THe collision drove my mazda car into circles and backwards out of the intersection. He was driving a huge pickup truck, so he is fine. My car was in pieces all over the intersection, the front is gone, my airbags saved me according to the EMT's, fire-men and police-man, they said i needed to go to the hosp. as it was a hard hit.

I was on the way home from youth group so my youth pastor and part of the youth group got there immediatly and got ahold of my parents, as I was loaded in the ambulance in a back-board, nothing like looking out as your loaded and seeing your friends freaking out, your car spread everywhere smoking and knowing that you are going to be ok. I'm fine except for whiplash, a tongue bitten through on the side, and big bruises and swelling everywhere becuase I hit stuff, like my knee hit the dash, my arm hit the door, my hit is bruises, my kneck is swollen from the airbags... but all x-rays and CT were clear. Praise the Lord, because they couldn't take me off the back-board until they were and that back-board is sure uncomfortable. So, I had collision insurance which is also a blessing, becuase my car is in a million pieces, no matter who's fault the police write it up as.

You poor thing, do what everyone says and rest - lots and lots of it. Easier said than done but you know it makes sense. I've never been through this and never want to - so can only imagine how you must feel.

Trauma can set in later though they tell me so be kind to yourself for a while.

Sending hugs - cos I really feel for you

Sunny I hope I am wrong about the soreness etc setting in days later.  I  would not wish anymore pain on you.

My son who is 22 totaled our car about three weeks ago.  We had snow on the road and it packed and turned to ice as the evening temps fell.  He was scheduled to work.  He got about 2/10 of a mile from home, when he went around the curve the car would not respond to the steering and kept sliding.  He ended up over an embankment where the car rolled and came to rest on its top in the stream, what we call a creek.

He had minor cuts and got a good scare but insisted he was fine.  Two days later he was asking for muscle relaxers and pain meds.

So as Wonko said don't be afraid to seek relief by vistining your doc for help if the pain increases in the following days.

I understand about be freaked out about getting back in a car but that will ease.

Take care and rest

I'm so sorry!

I went through a traumatic car wreck traveling for Christmas which also totaled my vehicle and required a dramatic ambulance exit.

Great advice above to REST.  The worst of the muscle strain can take DAYS to occur.  If you need to, talk to your doctor about muscle relaxers and pain relief.  Don't feel like you need to tough it out, it is one of those things that is best dealt with by getting as comfortable and as much rest as possible.  I also bought a bunch of reusable ice packs.

Bent metal stinks, but minimal injuries outweighs that any day.  I know it's natural to stress over the car and insurance and all of that nonsense, but try to take it easy and not worry too much about all of that.

I'm glad you had friends and support on site soon after, even if they were a bit freaked out.

Take care, and REST.

thanks for the hugs and prayers.

I'm hoping the pain doesn't get any worse. considering i've got pain and swelling in my jaw, hands, neck, arms, back, hips and knees... that doesn't make for any comfortable positions. this has got to get better, terry, not any worse. (smiles).

I do think the thing that is bothering me the most is my jaw (it's hard to talk) and my tongue where I bit it through on the side... it's a big nasty mess. So any predictions of more pain setting in doesn't sound pretty at all, i've been telling myself that it will keep improving!!! We are going traveling this week-end and to be honest I'm a bit freaked out about getting back into a car. I will try to take lots of R&R.

The Creator must have been riding with you.  The accident sounds awful.

I am so glad you are okay.  I will keep you in my prayers.  I know from experience the worst of the soreness and pain doesn't sit in for couple of days.

Take care of yourself and take it easy.

Sending you hugs and prayers

Whoa. That sounds terrifying. You need to rest. Take it easy for DAYS if you can. And be ready for some post-traumatic anxiety...just take your time getting back into things.
