Hospitalized

I'm in the hospital with a serious infection that may or may not be in my blood as well as in abscess, depending on whom you ask and what time it is. I am beyond enraged, long story, and feel like a human ping-pong ball. As of now it's IV antibiotics thru tomorrow at least.

What I think has happened is the mega Prednisone I have been given for the TN has done a number on my immune system and allowed infection to set in, so now I have 2 problems instead of 1. OMG. However, i'msure I will rally.

Thank you so much for the update. I'm relieved you're getting more appropriate care in a better environment. IV meds are no joke, so I hope they get the job done, and quick!

That sounds more promising Ess. Thanks for update. How does abx rank on antibiotic scale? Is it one of the big guns? Take care. xoxo

Hi everyone., just checking in. I really appreciate all your comments, and love the suggestions to barf on them or slap them silly.

Having trouble with this 1st generation iPad, which keeps dropping this, so will hold off on explanations for now. But wanted to say that I'm now getting big doses of IV abx. Can't say I'm better (yet) but not worse, and am being overseen by an infectious disease specialist, finally. Am being treated much better in this setting than I was in the ER. I don't know how long I'll be, but they're carefully watching the swelling.

Omg you poor thing! I have had many infections because the tysabri wipes out any immunity I might have.
I actually have a fairly bad one on my tummy right now. The pain and anguish you are going through is not right! The confusion from the medical proffesionals taking care of you must be very scary.
We are here for you and hope you have a speedy recovery!
Big hugs,
Barb

Ess, this is an update I was hoping we wouldn't see. You're definitely in a tricky predicament. And the keystone cops aren't making it less so!

Do you have someone in good health who's able to help advocate and keep an eye on them while you concentrate on getting better?

Thank you for taking time to update us. We're all thinking of you. It's such a wake up call to see a treatment have such a profound knock-on effect. I mean, I'm pretty sure we all know the potential in an abstract sense, but hearing you go through it is definitely a reality check as I consider risk/benefit scenarios for myself.

Ess, that's really shocking to read. I hope you are doing ok and that the docs and nurses are taking good care of you. It's awful that things were allowed to get to this point. Thinking of you, Joy

Well dang it, it makes sense but still, how can they not tell if it is in your blood or not?

You absolutely WILL rally but you will need to take time. Neither of your issues is a lightweight either so please take care and do as they say unless they are totally incompetent in which case feel free to vomit on them or something.

I hope someone who knows something gives you an update and a good plan going forward. The sooner the better.

Many, many gentle hugs,

Corrie

Ess,
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.  Hang in there and things will get better.  You are correct you will rally.  Is it not wonderful that when you go to the "experts" they don't have a clue.  Hour local hospital ER is a joke.  Scares me when I have to go for some reason.
