Hi Eric,
Usually, abnormal sensations that you can "shake out" etc, are indicating a temporary lack of circulation to the limb and not indicating central or peripheral nervous system damage. Its also situation specific, eg only when your sleeping, so that also indicates its a circulatory issue because of the way your body is positioned. The most common body positioning for experiencing pins and needles, is sitting or laying down so I think you're (as Kyle has said) sleeping funny.
Cheers.......JJ
It would lead me to slide down towards the "sleeping funny" end of the scale...
Thanks, guys. What do you make of the fact it only happens when I'm sleeping? To date, this hasn't happened when I'm awake or going about my day.
like Kyle my hand or foots feels like its going to sleep, I shake them or bang them and it goes. I have also woken up like this and font believe I can always be sleeping funny on my hand or foot.
Hi Eric - Your pins and needles could be an MS symptom, or as you point out it may have been from sleeping funny. On occasion one or the other of my hands feel like they are going to sleep. If I shake them or change position the feeling tends to ebb.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, but I would mention it to the neurologist on 5/13.
Kyle
