muscle twitches

I have ocassional muscle twitches in all muscles. I also have some numbness in my right forearm and my left leg.  im not sure i'd call it a weakness because I am still very active and lift weights at the ymca.  I have noticed these symtoms off and on since summer 07.  Little history about me.  I have had some accidents that could have caused some spinal issues.  I dove off a dock when I was 12 and landed on top of my head, causing severe neck pain for about a month and then it went away and I never seen a doctor about it.  I also ran into a truck with the left side of my face while running to catch a baseball when I was about 21 years old. never went to doctor for this either. by the way I am 32 years old.  I also injured the middle of my back doing heavy deadlifts in the weightroom, when I was about 28.  I also used to do very heavy squats in the weightroom, which my chiropractor says could be the cause of some of my lower back pain.  He did xrays and found that I have bone spurs in my neck and some minor damage in my lower back.  I recently quit lifting heavy weights in the weightroom and work out only 2 to 3 times a week, due to know having a wife and four children and my back issues.  the stopping of heavy lifting has caused about 20lbs of muscle loss.  I work shift work and sometimes have trouble sleeping on midnights shifts.  I am an extremly active person and can be high stress person at times.  one other thing I forgot to mention is that after working shift work for about 8 yrs I started having a dandruff problem that I can't seem to get rid of.  My ? is are any of the above things causing my symtoms?  and should I go see a doctor?

I do not have a diagnosis, not do I lift weights. I also avoid the sides of trucks whenever possible. I do, however,  have muscle twitches - both strong individual twitches that cause limbs to "jump", and also fasciculations. I also have severe muscle spasms that over the past year + have actually changes the shape of my feet and possibly broken a bone in my foot. That info probably doesn't help you a bit, since I don't know what causes mine, but its always nice to know you're not alone, lol.

There are so very many things that can cause these symptoms, including and aside from MS. Your neck injury could certainly have done it. Best thing is to get a thorough check up and see what your doc thinks. Good luck

I had to chuckle at the dandruff... LOL!  That's probably not an MS symptom.

Any sort of problem that affects your spinal column can cause symptoms resembling MS.  And back when I used to lift weights, if I had a serious workout, my muscles would twitch afterwards.

Of course, your questions should be taken to your doctor.

It could be whats called muscle fasculations which is normal especially if your a weight lifter/sports etc kind of person.  Have you talked with your MD about it?  I would do that and have them check you out to make sure its normal.
