quivers?
silly things, but thought i'd just ask anyway.last week had a quivering action in my right eyebrow,pretty constant,but not always,five or six days of it.now i have one for the last 3 days under my left eye, and its even buzier then the other one. so what do you think about these, any medical meaning to them? I am a limbolander with possiable Ms, and suffer from fibromyalgia for the last 12 years. thanks anyone

Hi, again. Always a pleasure to see you. Twitches around the eye are the most common site for the little muscle fiber contractions known as "fasciculations" (fass-ick-cue-lay-shuns). They can occur with fatigue, anxiety, use of stimulants (sorry, Heather) which include caffeine, decongestants, and nicotine, overuse of the muscles due to squinting, and also in metabolic conditions that cause muscles to be irritable (electrolyte imbalances) and in neuro disorders.
They can also happen out of the clear blue in normal people.
They can be seen in a variety of neuro disorders which affect the muscles of the face, including hemifacial spasm, myokymia, blepharospasm, and can also be seen in things like MS. They can also happen with viral infections, which can cause fasciculations in any of the muscle groups. The vast majority of eye twitches are benign.
Because the face is so sensitive and has so many snesory nerves, when twitches happen in the face they are really annoying and drive you crazy - something most of us do not need!

Do you believe that I was told by my family doctor that this can be caused by too much smoking or too much caffiene products?
