I am a 21 year old female. Neuro medical hx is Epilepsy.
I was in status epilepticus last winter and ended up with HIE and a Cortical Atrophy. I have no idea what a Cortical Atrophy is, everything comes up with dementia and age related things on google. My neuro never really got into the Cortical Atrophy issue.
The issues I have now since the seizures are speech/swallow issues, gait issues and cognitive, bad comprehension and bad memory, and being red/green colorblind now.
So, what exactly is a cortical atrophy? How will this effect me? I know it is basically just that the grey matter shrunk or something. But what exactly does the grey matter do?
