Night seizure?

I think I may be having seizures at night time, but I'm not sure. I've just started keeping track of them tonight. Until now I haven't recorded how often they've happened or when they started. These are the symptoms that happened to me tonight.

I could feel that one of these episodes was about to happen. Normally, this is how it starts out.
There were some patterns of light that kind of flashed as I had my eyes closed. After that happened a few times, my ears started to ring and rattle, and I think my teeth might have been chattering together I'm not sure. I could feel the shaking, I guess it felt like electrical impulses I'm not sure exactly how to describe it. This time like a lot of times when this happens, I try to cry out but I can't make any noise. I try to get up out of bed, and I feel like I'm moving but I'm not. I actually hallucinated myself struggling to get out of bed and got to my doorway before I woke up--still in my bed of course--drooling on the pillow and feeling worn out. The ringing subsided, the feelings subsided, it was gone.

Usually these are my symptoms, although I don't have the visual disturbances every time, and sometimes the auditory ones are ringing, or they might be different. Normally when I go to bed I get a feeling that I'm going to have an 'episode' that night, and 9 out of 10 times when I get that feeling, I later have one that night. Right directly before it happens, I'm aware that it's about to happen.

I'm a 23 year old female. As far as I know I'm healthy. I'm a little overweight, but not much. Epilepsy does not run in my family. I haven't been to a doctor yet mainly because I'm scared to go. I've read about night seizures, and they sounded close to what is happening to me. Though I've read a lot of people having muscle soreness and biting their tongues, those things have never happened to me.

I'm thinking it may just be a sleep problem, because I have trouble falling asleep anyway. I'm a highly creative person and 99% of the time when I lay down to try and sleep I simply can't seem to turn my brain off. Because of this I usually get to sleep really late, on average I'd say 3am or so, sometimes before then if I'm lucky. I'm still able to get enough sleep though, because I'm unemployed at the moment, so it can't be from a lack of sleep. I guess I should go to a doctor, but I am making some headway though at least researching and asking questions. I've started recording when they happen, and my symptoms, so I guess I'm taking a step in the right direction.

Can anyone tell me if these sound like seizures, what could cause them, what should I do, etc? Thanks so much.

I wanted to put an update--I'm still having these issues. I just made an appointment today for the doctor.

I've kept logs of when I have these episodes and have also done a lot of research. I wanted to add this--

Months ago my OBGYN put me on Yaz. I took this pill ONCE and stopped because that night I had the strangest and most painful migraine. Not too long after I stopped taking Yaz these night seizure things started up. I was really shocked and ever relieved that in my research I found a lot of other complaints from women who have been on Yaz and then after taking it, developed seizures.

I wonder if this has anything to do with mine.

At least now I'm less scared to go to the doctor, and I hope to find out soon what's going on with me and whether or not taking Yaz could have triggered this.

Has anyone else out their had similar experiences?

Sorry to say, you have to see a physician ASAP!!!!!   I would get a referral from your family physician to see a Neurologist.  If you don't need a referral, just make the appointment directly.  He/she could do a sleep study on you.

Secondly, ask your family physician to order an MRI with CONTRAST of the brain/head.  That could be completed before your see the Neurologist.

Thirdly, this forum is NOT in LIEU of seeing a physician even if a physician is replying to your question.  Please see one ASAP.
