Numbness in feet, arm and face evening only.

Hi,

I am posting on behalf of my father aged 65. For the past 3 weeks, my father had started to feel numbness in the feet, arm and face on the right side(only in those areas). The numbness occurs daily usually around dusk/evening.

He has been to a GP and without doubt suspected a stroke.  They instructed him to go for a CT scan, but the results were clear.  My father has high blood pressure and high sugar levels of ~9 but is not considered diabeties yet.  He was already on asprin for some time for blood thining.  He is worried because the doctor has not instructed anything else.

Do you have an advice what we should do to prevent anything which could be causing the numbness as it is still happening???

Blood sugars running high?  If they are he needs to be placed on medication.  It sounds to me like neuropathy.  He should be followed up by a Neurologist for a thorough evaluation.  MRI of the brain vs CT of the head would be more beneficial.

Keep us posted.

He is not doing any activities in the evening.  It may happen before or after his dinner.  His meals are generally rice and are the same for lunch. So you can consider them heavy meals.  On the sugar side, his been advised to control it(no diabetic meds).  I am not sure when he is taking the asprin meds, most likely in the mornings.  He does take vitamins(omega3) in the evening after dinner.

What kind of activity is he doing in the evenings?/Taking any medications in the evenings?/What are his evening meals like?  I believe he is diabetic.  If that is the cause he could have diabetic neuropathy.

Secondly, the GP should be referring him to a Neurologist to follow up.
