Have you calculated his BMI? Here is a site: http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/welcome/bmicalculator.html
Hi ProudPal, I have 2 sons 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. I'm actually reading a book about that
topic. My older one had had some episodes like that. Children go throught stages, at first they eat everything then they stop. They are not hungry. After this phase, many parents notice a growth spurt at the end of this eat/pick/eat cycle. It seems like children somehow instinctively knows when to eat and when not to eat. Our parent role in this eating situation is to provide good and healthy food. Children have the control on the how much. Don't worry, he will not starve. If too much attention is focus on the problem, if a parent becomes obsessed with the child's eating habits, or if the child feel pressured, a small problem might balloon into a large one.
Is he gaining weight or being stable?
Does he have energy?
Is he healthy?
If he lost weight, doesn't eat at all, does'nt have much energy and look sick for a while, go see a doctor.
Hope I could help and reasure you.

You should be taking him to regular well baby checkups where the doc can track his growth. My daughter is about that size and she's on target for her age (she's almost 2). But boys are different. You should take your child to a pediatrician and let them verify this for you.
My other daughter was a really picky eater, but there were days when she would eat us out of house and home. She's tall and skinny, but normal.
